The Musicathlon continued Tuesday with a performance by the local co-host, the Central Conservatory of Music. In the Forbidden City Concert Hall, located in Zhongshan Park adjacent to the famed Palace Museum, the Central Conservatory offered a program of chamber and vocal works in the first half, followed after intermission by the China Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Xia Xiaotang.
This was the Musicathlon’s second performance at the Forbidden City Concert Hall. The previous night, the Royal Academy of Music performed its full-length concert there, a program of Classic English and Broadway Brass. All-brass concert programs are rare here, and the Royal Academy Brass Soloists played to a large audience, many of them young children.
